What is a video-on-demand?

A video-on-demand ("VOD" for short) is a video that a viewer can watch and re-watch at any time. Viewers can scrub (i.e., fast forward and rewind) through a VOD. However, they cannot live chat.

A VOD is different from a live stream because a live stream is a video that a broadcaster starts and ends in real-time. So if you tune into a live stream 20 minutes after it's begun, you will have missed the first 20 minutes and won't be able to rewind to see them until after the broadcast ends. Once a live stream has ended, it automatically becomes a VOD (also referred to as a Reply Broadcast.)

When you are uploading a video, you can choose whether that video instantly becomes a VOD or whether it will be broadcast to simulate a live stream.

You can view all of a channel’s VODs (including Replay Broadcasts) by clicking Broadcasts from the far-left menu of your Channel Dashboard.
